Fairly uneventful day for a change. Dynamis – Xarcabard was this evening, and the leaders decided that we were going to try things a little differently on this run. Instead of making the usual cut to the Castle, we were going to farm the demons in the beginning of the zone. We had a magnificent wipe. The first thing the demons did was cast Sleepga, and in that packed corridor, there was no escaping the spell. By the time my sleep wore off, half the alliance was face down. After a few pulls, we decided to go back to the route we were used to, and 2-3 wipes later we ran out of time. It was an altogether short run, and yielded only a DRK drop and a few coins. Next time, I think we could do better if mages brought poison potions (to fight off sleep), melees brought reraise items (to reduce downtime) and we focused on time extensions first and go to farming after.
Farming night tomorrow, and boy do I need it. I have moat carp, magic scrolls and BLM equipment on my wish list, and a slowly dwindling bank of gil with which to acquire it.

Did anyone get the license plate on that Tuesday?
It was a ‘girthy’ day at work today. Quarterly, my work decides to have an IS departmental meeting. Every employee goes to these, even the on-call people. In these meetings, virtually everyone turns off any means of communication with the outside world. I know what you’re thinking – if they’re on-call, and they can’t be contacted, who do you call? I was left pondering this very same question! Since I’m a contractor, I was left to man the ship along with 2 other people. Of course, on half a crew and everyone that can help unavailable, this would be the time that three major systems decide to kick the bucket. It was 3 solid hours of non-stop calls and hunting for someone, anyone, who could help.I also found out that the items that I got on Saturday from our gods run, the ones I can’t use for quite some time, cost me half my points instead of being free as displayed on the claims page. I realize we were left with a website in a less than desirable state, but I should not have to check in three places to figure out what something costs. Luckily, by the end of the day, our LS leader gave Keri and I the points back for the scythe.
I’m going to drop the scythe. I don’t want to set a precedence to work outside the lotting system. The scythe was supposed to be 10 points: I got my points back so it’s only fair that I drop the scythe. The system in place for handling lots is a good one: it’s well-planned and managed and fair as I can see. It’s just too bad that the means we have for administering it are in such a state of repair.
DeAnn had quite a day, too. We ordered in Peng’s, against my better judgement. The comfort food was certainly welcome after a day like today. We got to our static a bit later than normal, but we had a great setup: Amelisa has joined us full-time on her BRD, Keri and I on BLM, Talon on MNK, Fattucus came again on his DNC and we picked up a random PLD. Kuftal crabs was the order of the night, and we hauled in a good amount of experience in the hour and a half we had left. I picked up a few elemental staves to help my magic damage a little, and we tore through those critters handily. We gave Amelisa and Fattucus a pearl to BusinessCasual; looks like we're meeting there for static.
Dynamis – Xarcabard tomorrow. I don’t know if I want to lot on anything. I’m gonna need all the points I can get if I want to be considered for an Osode on our next Kirin run. I had half considered throwing in the towel on MNK and changing my main to WHM, especially after the issue with the scythe points, but I’ll see how the next Kirin pans out first. At any rate, I love dynamis, so I’m there tomorrow night either way.

Key Cleaning
Since there was no sky scheduled tonight, and our inventories are starting to look horrific, Keri and I decided to go our separate ways tonight for a bit and do some chest and coffer hunts. No heavy lifting, just using up keys and getting stuff straightened out. I ran out to Davoi and popped the Monastic Cavern coffer for another piece of BLM AF. Followed that up with a run to Eldieme Necropolis. As luck would have it, there was another person running around looking for coffers, and he had a person sitting at the switch controlling the doors. I searched all the places he wasn’t, timing the doors just right so that I could get through while he was on the other side of the zone, until I found it for another piece of BLM AF.
I changed over to WHM and got out my Kuftal and Temple of Uggalepih coffer keys. I got a sunstone (2.5k to an NPC) from Kuftal, but could not find the coffer in the temple. It was probably behind the Tonberry King door, but I had no key for it. I ran back out to Eldieme to help Keri control switches, but she couldn’t find the coffer for her BLM there.
We called it a night early and watched some Discovery Channel to unwind. Geez, I remember now why I don’t watch TV… Even the Discovery Channel has gotten onto the whole sensationalistic drivel bandwagon, a distinction that used to separate its more intelligent programming from the rest of the crap on the airwaves. A good story, combined with pseudo-science and random conjecture is what passes now, and I’m no little bit put off by it. At least Mythbusters hasn’t changed so much, if you can stand the stupid commercials in between. At any rate, it was nice to just sit and relax with my honey.

Super Bowl Sunday
The Cope House woke extra early on Sunday to make our church’s early service. I like our early service: it’s cozy. Instead of sitting in an auditorium, it’s a bunch of round tables and a few rows of seats. They have coffee and donuts available, and you can easily converse with other people at the table. The worship has a quiet energy about it that is both relaxing and refreshing. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve grown to like the louder rock style of the other services, but it’s nice to get in a ‘classic’ service every now and then.
Getting up early also means more day is available to get things done and relax. We did our neglected Walmart run right after church, so we were in and out of there before the crazies were out of their services and crowding the place. Once we got home, we noticed both Talonshard and Amelisa were online, so we decided to try to get a party together. Got a random PLD and a SMN who sent me a tell asking if we had room. We first tried the Boyahda Tree’s spiders, but after several deaths and close calls, we decided those to be too hard. We settled for Quicksand Caves’ easier beetles and anticans. Our SMN “lost his connection” never to return. I think he just needed some way to get out of the party and watch the big game.
After we replaced him with a DNC, our experience really started rolling in. We gained two whole levels in that party, and I learned both Stone III and Tornado. I can also wear the first piece of my AF. Goodbye Seer’s Gear! The whole time, the LS was making commentary on the game and commercials, it was a lot of fun to hang out and have a beer with friends for the Super Bowl for a change, even if those friends were hundreds of miles away.
Ended the night with an impromptu run out to Beadeux for some scroll farming. Somehow, I ended up MPKing the whole party due to some really weird fluke of an aggro. I’ve never been aggroed at that range before… Returned with my WHM and raised everyone, then proceeded to slaughter every turtle in that place. The only scrolls we got were a couple of Bind and Blind scrolls, nothing even remotely close to what we needed. Another time.

Hangover Keri
We overdid it a little bit on Friday, so we slept in pretty late on Saturday. On top of that, neither one of us felt much in the mood to do the regular cleaning that we do on Saturday, and even the Walmart run fell to the wayside. DeAnn slept a good share of the day away. I got online in the late afternoon.
Demetrion was gauging interest in a KSNM 30 – Operation: Desert Swarm. I need the money, so I volunteered to go. It was the first time I’d ever done one. The fight involves 6 big scorpions, and the idea is each person solos a scorpion. Eventually, someone will defeat their scorpion, and they help someone else with theirs, and so on. You just need to defeat a scorpion before they defeat one of your party members. We won 5 of the 6 runs we did, but none of the big money drops came of them. One of the people we went with bought all the Philosopher’s Stones that dropped for 10k. Two of those dropped on my orb. Hey, can’t sniff at a cool 60k in loose gil and cheap drops to sell to the NPC.
The rest of the evening was spent doing Sky gods. We had a good 6-7 pop sets to burn through. Keri and I both got a Suzaku Scythe, which will be good for BST when we finally get there. I also got a Shura Kote abjuration, which will be cool if I ever have a spare 500k to toss. >.>” At least they didn’t cost points.
