Friday was rather unremarkable. I had picked up Colin's prescription over the lunch hour, but did not have enough time to drop it off. This small oversight in time management set the stage for a weekend full of Colin bouncing off the flipping walls. -.-; After traffic calmed down a bit, we went to HEB and nearly got backed over by a truck that was too big to see us in its rear-view mirror. The big "For Sale" lettering didn't help either. D wanted to absolutely flip out on the guy: she started yelling in the truck's general direction and wanted to go get the phone number so she could yell at them. I just wanted to get what we went there for and get back home. Which brings me to my first "Don't buy it:"
If you see a huge, beat-up, black truck with "For Sale"
Written in white window chalk, don't buy it.
No telling how many people have been run over by it.
We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and goofing off in game. We're both pretty low on gil lately, so we spent the evening doing things that made some of the monies.
After we were all up and about on Saturday, did our typical WalMart run. On our way into WalMart, there was a group of grown men dressed in full, ill-fitting Boy Scout uniform, with maybe one or two boys with them, selling popcorn at the door. Creeeeeeeepy... If they wanna "role play," y'know, whatever... But:
Don't buy boy scout popcorn from people
Older than 16 dressed in full Boy Scout uniform.
Don't encourage them to do that in public.
We got what we needed (and some things we didn't), got everything home and decided that we were going to try to make the 5pm service to open up our Sunday mornings a little and let us sleep in. We dropped Colin's prescription off on the way there, and went out to eat at Sea Island after church. After the kids were in bed, we had a LOLtastic time brushing off BST for the first time in weeks and getting some experience. And there was much dying and home pointing. In fairness, it was the first time in a long time we'd played BST, and it was a little rough getting back into the groove of things.
Sleeping in felt so good. We woke up at a leisurely hour, had breakfast and did our weekly Nyzul runs. Quaide almost didn't make it because his computer was on the blink. An emergency uninstall/reinstall of the video card got it into passable working order. Nothing exciting came of Nyzul, but we did win enough for me to rank up to Lance Corporal. ^_^/ After gaming, D and I did all the running around we couldn't do the day before. We needed to get Colin's prescription, pick up his present from WalMart, pick up some wrapping paper and other odds and ends, and get some weed-eater cord to tame the savage yard. On the way to our first location, we saw they were doing some major renovations on a nearby Super 8 Motel. In their parking lot, they had a spray-painted cardboard sign nailed to an upturned pallet that advertised "Used Twin and Queen/ Mattress & Box Springs Sets 4 Sale / Inquire Inside."
Don't buy a used matress.
Especially from a motel.
Eww...
After getting Colin's meds, we went over to pick up his presents. In this city, enterprising poor and homeless people beg for money or sell various things from the side of the road at busy highway intersections. The guy there this afternoon was selling... bottled water. And looking entirely too happy in the process: grinning from ear to ear and grabbing them from a cooler he had in a shopping cart. We were nowhere near somewhere that had shopping carts...
Don't by bottled water
From Creepy People on the Side of the Road.
Seriously, don't drink the water - Just wait until you get home.
So we got the presents and the wrapping paper, went to Home Depot to get the weed-eater cord just in time to make it home, cook dinner and hit up Dynamis - Xarcabard. We got above average drops for that zone and the win for that zone for the first time in months. He was stingy and didn't drop any gear, but winning sure felt good for a change.
