Weekend Intelligence: Tequila!

I've come to the realization that the busier or more hectic the workweek, the more enjoyable I'm hell-bent to make my weekend. New job, new contract at said job, and all the new newness of said contract and job is definitely refreshing, but also a bit hectic. But if I work hard, I can play hard, right? ^^ So, in typical weekend intelligence fashion, here are the highlights!

House and Home:

Friday was the first day at the assignment. Pretty standard calls: printers not printing, passwords not working. They have a few proprietary systems that I won't be trained on, so I did a lot of message taking as well. The kids had the day off because it was Battle of the Flowers Day, so D took the day off as well so she could be home with them. I don't get the whole celebration of Fiesta, but its a big deal around here, so I just roll with it. She decided to take the kids up to New Braunfels to ride the train and play at Landa Park, and meet me up for lunch. We hit McD's - it was nice to see them in the middle of the day.

The drive home wasn't too bad. I'm guessing that most people were down on the riverwalk for the craziness. Not wanting to completely dodge the Fiesta bug, D and I decided to study our rich local culture and buy margarita fixings: strawberry margarita mix and a bottle of cheap tequila. >:D We goofed around the rest of the evening, just kinda relaxing.

Saturday, we picked up some donuts for breakfast and set about some light tasks. Colin was set to do his laundry and the dishes, D was on clean up duty for the kitchen and I was attacking the forest that is the backyard. I cut a pretty nice swath out of the thicket before I hit something with the mower. It made a big poof of dust; I thought it was an anthill again, since we had trouble with them last year. But when I turned off the electric mower, the humming didn't stop. Before I could do much of anything, a cloud of hornets began swarming around me and the mower. Yeah, time to go inside now... >.>;

Not surprisingly, I didn't do much else in the way of yardwork for the rest of the weekend. I did get around to doing some laundry, but not much else. We had some things that couldn't wait for our typical Walmart run, so we also got those taken care of. While at Walmart, D and I got a haircut and I decided to treat her to a pedicure. She had wanted one for a while, but it falls into that "nice, but not a necessity" category that made it never happen. Well, since we have $350 of money that we should have had all along but didn't (read: Tax Return), we figured it was ok. Colin spent the night over at a friend's house, so we gamed a bit and learned more about Fiesta from home.

We got a somewhat early start on Sunday: went to the 11:30 service about a half hour late >.<; It was still awesome, though. Knocked out the Walmart run on the way home. We bought steaks for next Friday.

In Game:

I'm quickly finding my interest in playing waning. I go through these phases where I really like playing, and do so whenever I can, followed by periods where I'm just not in the mood most of the time. I'm in the latter phase at the moment, and really just looking for something I can do socially and still do high-level engame stuff. This used to be what Soulfire speciallized in, but they are moving further and further from this, leaving me to wonder "What now?" Well, turns out that a long-time friend (and former SF member), Hripthe, is a member of a social shell that may help me answer that. Keri and I both requested pearls.

I only played on Friday long enough to do the 18 man avatar battles I promised I would. They're pretty fierce and fun battles. Keri and I were online and campaigning on Saturday, when Emmaline asked if either of us wanted to help her and Eiael do 4-2. I helped while Keri did some campaign for a bit, then logged to go play FF8. Sunday was the most I played all weekend, and that was Dynamis - Bastok. 3 hours of turtle-bashing. We almost ran out of time several times, but overall we did really well. We set a new SF record for coin drops, and raked in several needed relic gear. I got the Monster Jackcoat, bringing my BST to 3/5.

Monday will start the first of three full weeks on assignment. I'm looking forward to it and just having fun with it. Also planning on getting D on the dance pad and perhaps watching the copy of Amelie that just arrived in the mail.
