Weekend Intelligence: Plaid Chupacabra

First weekend since being back at the home office, so I really needed some R&R this weekend. On a completely unrelated note, if a chupacabra could be plaid, what general color would that be? :P So, in typical weekend intelligence fashion, here are the highlights!

House and Home:

I worked late on Friday night, and had to call it an early night at that because D had volunteered to come in to work on a Saturday morning. Yes, the same wife who sleeps 12hrs a day and detests going to work on the weekends. No, my wife was not abducted by aliens. At least, I don't think she was... Apparently the job that needed doing was much larger than her supervisors first thought, and she knew it, so she offered to come in and help. Which, while out of character, was very sweet of her and I was very proud.

At any rate, I decided that since I was going to be up early anyway, and alone with the kids on a Saturday morning, that I'd see what Noni was up to and if she wanted to get her FFXI account set up and started. She was ok for the morning, so we got donuts and hung out there on Saturday morning. Apparently everyone there has an animal nickname and gesture... >.>; I got Plaid Chupacabra, but I'm going to have to think about a gesture... When D got home, she was pretty tired, so I hit WalMart while she and the kids went down for a nap. Then I took a bit of a rest before Kirin.

Sunday morning service was a good message, but my wife kept proding me to make sure it was sinking in. -.-; It was a message was on racism and prejudice in general. Now I’m not a racist. I’ve had many, many friends of all colors and nationalities and orientations. I have nothing against anyone for something like that. My problem is having no tolerance for and calling out shenanigans. I just refuse to quietly accept people using their race or color to be rude, insensitive, uncivilized or just plain mean. No. I don’t care what color you are, that’s wrong, and I’ll not tolerate it or the attitude that it’s ok because you’re insert-color/race-here.

In Game:

Friday's FNLE was KS99 Wyrms. We've never beaten Wyrm before, but lately we've had a lot of success with dragons. In the past two weeks, we'd beaten Ouryu v2, Bahamut v1, several Fafnirs and a Nidhogg. That's phenomenal for us, so we were hopeful. We only had two people willing to put up orbs for it, given our history with the fight. Long fight put short, we schooled Wyrm. Hard. Broke the previous record and got a Black Belt item. That loosened some hands for a second round. And a third. Yeah, we won 3/3 against on a fight that we'd never won in the years of trying.

I spent a good chunk of Saturday in campaign, trying to get 69 on BLM and an extension on my campaign medal. I finally got the level and the extension at about the same time, and 5 minutes before a besieged battle. :O I was able to get my medal, 69BLM, and cap Dark Magic skill all in the course of an hour. We had Kirin on Saturday night, but it was rather unremarkable. One osode and no crimson pants. Not much of anything to write home about, really.

Sunday was Dynamis - San d'Oria... Begin rant... The only thing I want from any dynamis at this point is the BST hand piece from Xarcabard. That's a rare one. >.>; However, Shado really needs the coins from these dynamis runs to complete his relic, so I go whether I need something there or not. On top of this, I usually plan my day around this event, so that I'm sure I have a large block of uninterrupted time to do this. To do this, I go by what my LS has as the posted time. It is widely understood that the time posted is the gathering time, usually about one hour before the actual event to make sure everyone has plenty of time to get to the event.

But not this time. The time posted, without specifying, was actually the start time. This put a hurt on my ability to get real-world things planned for that hour accomplished and ticked Keri off so much that she flat out refused to go. If I didn't need the points so badly, I might have done the same... The run was marked by unnecessary wipes and death, leading to a non-winning run. At least Shado got enough coins from the run to upgrade his katana to stage 4. Finished out the night campaigning on WHM to get back some of the experience I had lost. x.X

If I had my guess, most of this won't even be close to posted until Tuesday. Monday blog updates are just impossible to do anymore. That's really a good thing, though. I'm plenty busy and enjoying my job. ^^/ I'll try to get this up by Tuesday night, but it's starting to look like a 3 update per week deal lately. Don't worry, I haven't found a way to drop off the face of the planet. Yet. :P
