Its weird how things have a way of spontaneously combusting after a 3-day weekend. I haven't been at my desk much this week, so I'm going to do a quick catch-all post for the week:
-I've been out to the South Texas Blood and Tissue center twice this week to cover for low staffing levels. The first time was to facilitate a move of 8 workstations from one side of the building to the other, and I took on a few tickets while I was there. Yesterday, I went over there to help clean up stale tickets and ended up doing damage control while our network engineers worked on an issue between the voicemail system and the email system.
-DeAnn had a smash-up week last week on the job front, and has three serious prospects all vying for her. She received a hefty offer letter from a former employer - the one she worked for that moved us to San Antonio. And I mean hefty. Hefty as in "almost twice as much as I'm earning" hefty. That one is contingent on that company actually winning the contract. That one would be NICE. She also got personal assurance from another potential employer that they would rework their budget and see how much more they could add to their original offer idea and send an offer letter soon. The lastly, the third position wants to have a lunch meeting today with her and the rest of the team to get to know her better. And she's received several calls on her at work for background checks and employment verification.
-Colin had a rough spot at after-school care. Apparently he forgot his meds before heading off to school, and refused to do his homework. So he spent all night getting it done at home. The next night, he came home without his spelling done. He claimed it was because they weren't allowed to do it in class or take the storybook home, which turned out to be a vital part of the assignment. I don't think we were getting the whole story, and I'm going to let him have it if he's trying to test his teachers and afterschool assistants.
-Clara is... Clara. A walking, screaming, temper-tantrum throwing bundle of excitable toddler and poop. -.-; With still developing brains, constantly instable emotional storms and an evolution-inspired propensity to narcissism and hedonism, toddlers are inherently insane. Seriously. If you haven't spent the day with a toddler and don't have one handy to experience it, just go to your nearest psych ward and carry on a deep conversation with the man who talks to his crayons. It's kinda like that. With more poop.
-In Game life has been pretty disappointing. I died on BLM trying to take pics of pugils at Cape Terrigan. The lucky bastard caught me between stoneskin casts and I never really recovered. Then Keri decided to use a ring charge in a manaburn party without checking if I had a charge available. Which I didn't, because she used it to level my RDM that they give me flak for not having leveled. This equates to me working my ass off in campaign battles instead of earning merits for AM2, putting me even further behind.
Speaking of last night, I decided that it was no big deal to invite another BLM and his THF secondary account to our manaburn. I mean, we were just there to hit 74 and get Emma her merit. But Keri, TS and Emma got mad that someone was leeching exp. Nevermind that we're still completing our objective and generally having a good time doing it. Noo~ it's messing with our exp... I did finally get 74, but I still got the feeling that I should have just stayed in bed and not logged in. I hate leading parties...
Weekend coming up, and I feel like I worked all 5 days, even though it was only 4. I'm just hoping nothing else blows up between now and quitting time...
