Ain't Life Grand: Just a Little While Longer

Today was the last day of the long winter break. I had spent all of the rest of it at home with the kids - 12 crazy days of Clara and Colin bouncing off the wall at home, getting into trouble, eating everything in sight, with a well-placed winter cold for flavor. This day, however, was also the first day back to school for them, and one of the few days D had off from work, making today the only day we had off together without the kids in our hair.

We went out and had a nice, relaxing breakfast, lounging around at Starbucks together, drinking some of the season's best brews. And after a brief grocery run, we took a long, lazy, kid-free nap. The kind of nap you only get when you don't worry about what's happening on the other side of the bedroom door. We both REALLY needed that. As much as we love our kids, we needed that...

While I wish I could get one more day like today with her before hitting the grind again, I'm thankful I got to be with her today. Ain't life grand?
